The Organization confirms that this purpose is like a benevolent fund to be used on an as needs basis. The criteria for selection are financial need, severity of medical issue, and any extenuating circumstances such as: illness or death of other family members; applicant being sole source of support for family; poverty of family and other circumstances deemed needy. Beneficiaries would receive medical services from an approved hospital, pharmacy, lab, clinic, or diagnostic centre. The selection suggestions are made by the our representative agent. The final decisions in Canada are made by The Board of Directors of the Organization. Applicants would approach the agent and explain their case verbally or in writing. The agent then would make the appropriate investigation and double check references and the living situation of the Applicant and would obtain a medical referral. The relief agent office would make recommendations to the Board of Directors in Canada who would review files submitted on behalf of the applicants and according to financial resources available would make a final selection.
The Charity in the future will operate a community health care centre by providing medical, health and support services for the general public. The Charity will raise funds to establish and operate a community health care centre in Khartoum, Sudan, or at another appropriate location in Sudan. The Organization will work together with St. Mark’s Coptic Hospital to select a site for a community health care centre. The building would be owned by the Organization and the Organization would attend to the costs of staffing, supplies and equipment. The Organization would enter into a Service Agreement with St. Marks Hospital with respect to the day to day operations of the Centre. The Organization will establish a Medical Advisory Committee to oversee this project from site sourcing, budget creation, fundraising, building, equipping, staffing and day-to-day running of the Centre. This project will probably take 5-10 years to amass the required funds and to commence the steps that the Medical Advisory Committee will oversee. The Organization will look for inspiration and guidance from the Coptic Hospital in Kenya and Zambia and the Coptic Hope Centre for Infectious Diseases.
The Charity will develop and promote public health in developing nations by providing funding to purchase medical equipment for use in hospitals, clinics and community health care centres. The Charity will raise funds to purchase medical equipment for use in hospitals (including the Saint Mark Coptic Hospital) and in clinics and community health care centres that would be established by the Charity.
